No Rights

Atheist Representative tells a Christian they have 'no right' providing testimony at a hearing.

How long would that Representative still have a job be for getting the boot if? I'd been surprised if they lasted a day.

But when a Christian Representative yells that at an Atheist?

It doesn't matter though, no Representative would be so stupid as to do something like that. Right? Think again, because that's exactly what happened during testimony given on April 2nd to the House State Government Administration Committee.

The Illinois State Representative Monique Davis, a Democrat from Chicago, was (I'm assuming) trying to support a $1 million grant, that apparently was slated to be used to rebuild a burnt out Baptist church on grounds of it being a historical site. The money instead appears to have gone to the church's private school, one that was evading taxes for several years. Rob Sherman, who was giving testimony on the fact that giving the money to the church in the first place is in violation of the separation of church and state, calmly attempted to address Mrs. Davis but was cut short when her off topic comments turned even more vile.

Davis: It’s dangerous to the progression of this state. And it’s dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists! Now you will go to court to fight kids to have the opportunity to be quiet for a minute. But damn if you’ll go to [court] to fight for them to keep guns out of their hands. I am fed up! Get out of that seat!

Sherman: Thank you for sharing your perspective with me, and I’m sure that if this matter does go to court---

Davis: You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon.

Have a listen for yourself.

Mrs. Davis needs to resign.

There's no excuse that could be made, or apology acceptable for this sort of open bigotry by an elected official.

Mrs. Davis has also been awarded the Worst Person in the World award.
